Drink and Eat Local Beer!

Staying true to our Bellingham roots, we partnered with Boundary Bay years ago to incorporate their beer into our Tap List, and to also use it as an ingredient in our pizza dough.  We use their Scotch Ale as an ingredient to our dough- it adds a really great flavor and texture to the dough that is really unique and original.

When we went to develop our Fish and Chips recipe, we again went back to the Scotch Ale as the local beer of choice to use for the beer battering.  The feedback we have received on our Fish and Chips (with hand-cut fries!) has been outstanding, and quickly become one of our top selling items at all locations.

Don't get me wrong- we love drinking their beer too and have them on tap at all 5 locations.  Their Scotch is a great beer to drink that has a very well balanced flavor to it and pairs great with burgers and pizza.  The IPA has won numerous awards and is top notch as well.

So, if you are ever in Bellingham, be sure to stop by Boundary Bay and check out their beer, or swing by the Bellingham NYP (a few blocks from Boundary) and try the food that has been inspired by their beer!

NYP Bar and Grill brings a Scratch Kitchen, Legendary Happy Hour, and 2 Restaurant Experts to Everett.

NYP Bar and Grill brings a Scratch Kitchen, Legendary Happy Hour, and 2 Restaurant Experts to Everett.

The story

NYP Bar and Grill has just opened their 4th location near Everett Mall, bringing in a fresh concept focused on locally sourced food and craft brew.  NYP stands for New York Pizza which was the name of the original eatery in Lynden, WA.  Since then, the focus has evolved to include gourmet burgers, an extensive happy hour, made from scratch pastas and Northwest craft beer.

The team

Sigrid Novak, Everett head chef, remembers when New York Pizza only had one location.  She started at Lynden as the day time cook and was been with the company since the first day – December 1st, 2008.   She is currently the kitchen manager in Bellingham and is making the move to the brand new location on Everett Mall Way.

Sigrid is joined by General Manager, Ryan Zawisza.  Ryan has been in the restaurant business his entire life and has worked locally for Emory’s and the Lodge.  Ryan, who is as enthusiastic as he is experienced, has been a part of the Everett restaurant community for over a decade.

What is NYP bringing to Everett that is new and different?

According to both Sigrid and Ryan, you aren’t going to find a “corporate” feel at NYP.  “I am excited about the feeling you get at NYP – it’s got a local touch”, says Ryan, “I can feel good about supporting our neighborhood.”  Sigrid mentions the uniqueness of the mixed atmosphere.  “You will find a stellar bar menu plus a family friendly dining experience.”

NYP is known in other cities for their legendary happy hour, bottomless mimosas during weekend brunch, the best place to watch football and really fun daily specials like Steak and Whiskey Wednesday.

What is your favorite thing to eat at NYP?

Sigrid:  John Wayne Burger and the Smoked Salmon pizza.  They are scrumptious.  Both are NYP specialty items – you can’t find them anywhere else.  One of these days, I am going to come to NYP and order a John Wayne burger and eat the whole thing for dinner!    Now that we are smoking our salmon in house, it is even better – really representative of the Northwest.

Ryan: I love all the food but one of my favorite things is the Chicken Bacon Artichoke pizza.  The white sauce is really good – made from scratch, locally sourced chicken and bacon.  It is one of the best things on the Happy Hour menu too – only $8.

And what about that Happy Hour?

NYP is best known for its happy hour.  Around 40 items, both food and drink, at amazing prices.  The happy hour is available throughout the restaurant, not just at the bar.  Offered twice daily and all day on Sunday.  Choose any beer from their 24 taps for $4, a carnitas taco for $4 or their hand-cut, bottomless fries for $5.  Yes, you heard it right…the happy hour fries are bottomless.

When and where?

The Everett location (1321 SE  Everett Mall Way) is located in Suite B which is in the same building as Half Price Books.  This location has been opened for business since  Wednesday, April 8th.  Follow us on Facebook for details!

6 NEW sliders worth a mid-week visit to NYP

6 NEW sliders worth a mid-week visit to NYP

Mondays in March are all about Sliders!

We have always offered Kobe sliders at our restaurant and they are a guest favorite.  What is not to love about an adorable, mini version of some of our best burgers?  For the month of March, we are whipping up ALL NEW sandies and putting them on our menu EVERY MONDAY and during ALL March Madness games.

March Madness = Sliders + $4 Craft Brews

Not only will you see our slider menu on Mondays but during all March Madness game days.  5 Mondays for this special just wasn’t enough for us so starting March 17th (eh-heh this is Saint Patrick’s Day), enjoy sliders with your college hoops, too.  Pints of craft brews are still only $4 (Mondays and during March Madness).

The ALL NEW Sliders.  3 for $9.

#1  The Luau:  angus beef, pineapple salsa, pineapple aioli, hempler’s bacon, swiss, teriyaki

Transport yourself to island time and island attitude with this tropical twist on our classic burger.

#2   Lamb Slider:  tzatziki sauce, lamb, arugula, tomato

Instead of beef this slider features lamb.  The Greek inspired flavors will have you cheering “OPA!” with your dinner.

#3  Falafel:   falafel, arugula, red onion, roasted red pepper, yogurt mint sauce, goat cheese

For the vegetarian choice, our house made falafel is crispy and delicious.  You will never miss the meat!

#4  John Wayne:  angus beef, jack BBQ, cheddar, hempler’s bacon, bbq aioli, onion ring

This is just a mini version of our immensely popular burger.  The tiny onion ring will be the standout on this one.

#5  Guacamole Bacon:  angus beef, pepper jack cheese, avocado salsa, burger sauce, hempler’s bacon

We think guacamole tastes great on almost everything so why not add it to a slider?  House made guac and burger sauce, plus spicy cheese and crisp bacon.

#6  Cheddar Onion Strings: house bbq sauce, angus beef, aged cheddar, hempler’s bacon, frizzled walla walla onion

Have you ever had your onions frizzled?  Atop this slider the Walla Walla sweets are crispy, sweet and fried.  Yum…
